Reported from CSPPLAZA: From September 10th to 13th, the standard draft review meeting of the first IEC international standard, “IEC 62862-3-1 General requirements for the design of parabolic trough solar thermal electric plants” (Overall requirements for design of parabolic trough concentrated solar power stations) edited by China Datang Group New Energy Co., Ltd was held at the headquarters of the Italian Technical committee of electrical engineering (CEI).
A total of nine IEC experts from CEI headquarters, China, Spain and Italy attended the meeting. The Chinese expert delegation is mainly composed of experts in concentrated solar power sector from leading domestic power generation groups, design institutes and project developers; delegations from China Telecom, China Datang Group New Energy Co., Ltd., Changzhou Royal Tech CSP Limited., Beijing TeraSolar Photothermal Technologies Co., Ltd., Inner Mongolia Electric Power Survey and Design Institute Co., Ltd., Hebei Electric Power Survey and Design Institute.
The meeting focused on the interconnections between the design itself and the IEC standard under edition or released. A large number of technical contents and expressions in standard manuscripts went into discussion toward design requirements of concentrated solar power stations.
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is responsible for international standardization work in the fields of electrical engineering and electronic engineering. As a professional technical committee established by the IEC in the field of solar thermal power generation, TC117 mainly develops international standards related to solar thermal power generation.
The Comitato Elettrotecnico Italiano (CEI) is the IEC counterpart in Italy and is responsible for international standards in Italian electrical engineering and electronic engineering.
Four standards has been released by IEC:
