Report from CSPPLAZA: CSP technology is still in its infancy in China, but it has a longer history worldwide. How does the LCOE of CSP develop in the world? how to use this experience to develop CSP Project in China?

On 20~22 June 2018, the Fifth China International CSP conference held in Beijing & CSPPLAZA annual meeting 2018 (CPC2018), Abengoa’s business development director Jose Manuel Lopez Cepeda attended the conference and shared the case of Abengoa’s participation in China’s two CSP demonstration projects.

Jose introduced the two projects that Abengoa participated in China: Luneng Haixi Molten Salts Tower 50 MW project and East Town Yumen Parabolic Trough 50 MW project.

Abengoa is mainly responsible for four parts of the Luneng Haixi Molten Salts Tower 50 MW project.

• Basic Engineering for Solar Field & Solar Receiver – Done
• Technology package (license): solar field layout and design + heliostats drawings – jig tools drawings – assembly procedures – Licensed
• Technical site advising service – main positions at heliostat assembly workshop to coordinate assembly works + TFA + inspections + commissioning
• Supply + commissioning Control system Level I (SF DCS) + II + III (local control boxes)

Abengoa is mainly responsible for four parts of the East Town Yumen Parabolic Trough 50 MW project
• Basic Engineering for Solar Field + HTF system + TES – Done
• Technology package (license): solar field layout and design + parabolic trough drawings – jig tools drawings – assembly procedures – Licensed
• Technical site advising service – main positions at parabolic trough assembly workshop to coordinate assembly works + TFA + inspections + commissioning
• Supply + commissioning Control system Level I (SF DCS) + II + III (local control boxes)

Speaking of the views on the China’s demonstration projects, Jose said that China is undoubtedly an important market for CSP generation at present and in the future. For most Chinese projects are short of the technical and project experience is short, so currently  Chinese enterprises cooperate with a very experienced overseas enterprise to develop the project. This cooperation model can not only make the construction more smooth, but also bring confidence to the financing, developers and construction parties.
