China ‘s first large-scale commercialized parabolic trough CSP demonstration project has taken shape and is expected to be put into operation by the end of 2017

Reported from CSPPLAZA: It is learned  recently that China Guangdong Nuclear Solar (CGN) Delingha 50MW CSP project, China’s first large-scale commercialized parabolic trough thermal power plant, is now under construction. The installation of the collector (without the collector tubes) of the solar island has been mostly completed and is expected to be completed by the end of October. It is spectacular that the installed mirrors are shining under the sunlight. At the same time, the construction of the thermal storage island and the power island is nearing completion. The overall structure of the whole project has begun to take shape.

According to Dayong Liu, GM Assistant of China Guangdong Nuclear Solar Delingha Co.,Ltd., at present, the civil foundation of the collector has been completed; as for the installation, the production of the collectors has been completed 73% and  installation 60%, the the installation of the receivers has been completed 38%; the installation of the  main pipe of heat transfer oil has been completed 60%; the electrical installation has been completed 35%. The overall installation has been completed more than 65%.

As for power island (power generation part)which broke ground in August 2015:currently the civil engineering has been basically completed and is being renovated. In addition to steam turbines, the installation has been completed more than 93%. At present, the auxiliary power has finished power receiving; the conditions for producing qualified chemical water have been basically created.The steam turbines have arrived and are expected to finish installation in November.

As for heat transfer and storage island: on April 12, 2016, the first tank of concrete pouring were finished; the civil and construction works are basically completed; the installation of the equipment of the heat transfer area are all done; 70% of the pipeline installation has been finished. 1200T oil has been injected for the first time. The installation of main bodies of cold molten salt tank and the hot molten salt tank has been completed and the accessories installation is in progress and is expected to be completed in October and with the condition of adding molten salt.

According to previous news, August 31, the power receiving of the project’s auxiliary power gained one-time success,marking the upcoming of the equipment comissioning work and a new milestone stage for the project. The project is currently far ahead of other demonstration projects in the overall progress and expected to become China’s first grid-connected solar thermal demonstration power plant.

As the first commercialized large-scale parabolic trough CSP project to begin construction in China, the construction of Delingha 50MW solar thermal power generation project has overcome dry,cold and low oxygen natural conditions in high-altitude district of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Under the circumstance of lacking mature experiences, the construction process has been steadily promoted and now obtains staged achievements.
