Reported from CSPPLAZA: The on-site visit organized by CSPPLAZA to China first large-scale commercial CSP project-CGN Delingha 50MW parabolic trough concentrated solar power (CSP) plant attracted over 600 representatives from China CSP sector to join in.
On the day of visiting, the project was under normal operation, more than 9000 sets of collectors were running normally and steam could be seen from the heat storage area. According to technicians of the project, the power station can achieve 60%~70% load output under the DNI conditions at that time.
The full operation of CGN’s Delingha CSP Project has entitled China 8th country in the world with large-scale CSP plant, filling the gap of China in large-scale parabolic CSP technology.

The representatives also experienced the spectacular of another CSP plant that is expected to be operation at the end of this year- Supcon Delingha 50MW Molten Salt Tower CSP Project.
The project is also among China’s first batch CSP demonstration project. It adopts tower molten salt technology with 7 hours heat storage system and covers an area of 2.7 square kilometers. Once completed, it is estimated that the annual power generation capacity will be 146 million kWh and the peak efficiency will reach 20%.

Recent progress of the project
At present, 97% of the pillars of the project, about 26,422 in number have been installed; 83% of the heliostats, 22570 in number have completed the installation. The assembling and commission of heliostats are scheduled to be finished at the end of October.
The inlet and outlet buffer tanks have been hoisted. The absorption system pipeline is planned to complete installation on October 30th.
The construction of the heat storage system, the heat storage and exchange system equipment and pipeline installation have been completed, and salt molting is scheduled to start at the end of October.
In November, the overall commissioning of the heat storage system was completed. The turbine and auxiliary machine have been installed. It is expected that the installation of air cooling system, water system, electrical system and instrument control system will be installed by the end of October. It is expected that the turbine generator set will be commissioned in November.
The two projects mark China has taken a great leap in CSP technology and will strengthen its role globally in developing CSP plant and solar energy utilization.
