ContourGlobal confirmed it was in talks with Iberdrola about potentially acquiring a Spanish concentrated solar power plant.
The company was responding to press speculation that it was eyeing a 50MW concentrated solar power plant owned by the local utility.
Spanish daily El Economista reported that the thermal and renewable power plants owner has agreed to buy Iberdrola’s Puertollano CSP plant in a deal valued at between EUR 150 million (USD 173m) and EUR 190 million. The daily had reported in June that Iberdrola was seeking a buyer for this plant, located in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha.
In May, ContourGlobal Plc completed its near-EUR-1-billion acquisition of Acciona SA’s (BME:ANA) 250-MW solar thermal power portfolio in Spain.
‘The company confirms that it has been in negotiations with Iberdrola,’ CountourGlobal said. ‘A further announcement will be made if and when appropriate.’
