ContourGlobal Plc (LON:GLO) confirmed today that it is negotiating the acquisition of five concentrated solar power (CSP) plants in Spain from Acciona SA (BME:ANA).
In a brief statement that followed press speculation, ContourGlobal said that it will make further announcements in due course, without giving more details.
Earlier on Friday, Spanish newspaper El Economista reported that Acciona is looking to sell to ContourGlobal solar thermal power plants valued at about EUR 1.5 billion (USD 1.84bn) in total. The total cost of building these facilities is estimated at more than EUR 1.2 billion, according to the article.
In a response to that report, Acciona confirmed that the two sides are holding talks but noted that the negotiations are currently on hold.
Acciona’s current portfolio includes five CSP plants in Spain, each one with a capacity of 50 MW. The company also has a 64-MW solar thermal power facility in the US, according to information on its website.
